Entry Fee £8.00 per section. Contribution from the entry fee to NHS and IDTA Benevolent Fund.

Competition Rules

All entries must reach the organising committee on or before the closing date. Late entries cannot be accepted.

Competitors must be entered in the appropriate section by age, the age of the competitor will be taken on the closing date of entries 28th June 2020.

All entries are to be danced solo.

Any choice of choreography or set sequences accepted in all categories except the 6 - 9 Age group in Classical Sequence, they must follow the Rosette syllabus.  The same Routine may be used repetitively by the same school in all categories.

Competitors may enter in more than one genre if they wish. Ballroom/Latin/Classical Sequence & Freestyle, each dance within that genre is a separate competition. (Competitors can enter 1-2 or all 3) each dance will be charged at a separate entry fee. 

The maximum time limit of a routine is 1 minute. This must not be exceeded under any circumstances. Time will be counted from the opening of the performance. This applies to all genres and sections.

Dress Code: Suitable dance/examination wear to be worn for the performance (No costumes) Light make up accepted.

The format of the video should be recorded in landscape orientation and of 1080HD file format. Pre Recorded Video submission can be conducted on any recording device, with a proviso that the competitor can always be clearly seen and in full view of the camera throughout the performance. For identification purposes, the dancer should clearly state their name in the video before the performance starts, this is not part of the 1-minute time limit. The performance can be filmed in any suitable space/indoor or out. The music must be clear and audible throughout the performance.                 

Each section will have a capacity of no more than 500 entries. From the 500 entries, 200 will be selected to go forward Into the Semi-Finals, this will then be taken down to a maximum final of 15 dancers awarding 6 places. 

All competitors entering the competition will be awarded a certificate. Every section winner will be awarded a £50 cash prize (the money to be spent with their teacher on their further training and development), plus the title of Global Lockdance Champion 2020 of that category and age group.

An independent panel of adjudicators will be selected by IDTA.

The adjudicator’s decision is final, and no correspondence may be entered into.

The IDTA has the rights to use images of the competitors during the competition and that the images may be used by the IDTA in reports of the event and IDTA promotional materials, which is published by the IDTA in a variety of formats. 

The videos submitted by the teachers of the individual competitors may be used for promotional/advertising purposes. In the case of television coverage, live streaming or production of a DVD recording all competitors must agree that the rights to any fees from such recording will rest with IDTA Ltd (the organisers) and no competitors nor associations shall have any claim on the organisers, television company, video streaming company or DVD producer.

Physical exercise is always undertaken at your own risk, filming a dance for this competition is undertaken at your own risk, so please look after yourself. Ensure you have a clear space, free from obstacles where you will not injure yourself. Make sure the dance you perform is appropriate to the space you have available. Please make sure the dance space you choose is also clear of any obstacles. Make sure the movement is appropriate to your age, ability and any pre-existing medical conditions. Make sure that you have thoroughly warmed up before completing your competition routine. Please do not dance if you are unwell or injured.
