- Gymnastic Dance or ‘Acro’ Dance is a dance style that combines dance and acrobatic movements. The movements that Gymnastic dancers can include into a dance routine include handstands, cartwheels, and handsprings. While gymnastics are not a form of dance, it becomes a dance routines when dancer coordinates the routine with the music and links the acrobatic movements with dance steps. Gymnastic Dance places a layer of gymnastic ability on top of dance skills.Gymnastic Dance develops a high degree of flexibility, fitness and agility.
- It is a popular dance style used in competitive Freestyle Dance as well as in professional dance theatre and in contemporary circus shows such as those by Cirque du Soleil. Graded examinations are available with the I.D.T.A for those children wishing to measure their progress.
Our classes last 90 minutes which is roughly divided into warm-up and stretching , skills and syllabus work followed by routine development.
